Given the terrible run the bond market has had over the past two years, it's hard to applaud any bond fund right now. However, Global Credit Bond (VGCIX), which turns five years old this month, has more than held its own compared to its index fund competition—not that many investors have noticed.

If you’re familiar with Vanguard’s Investment-Grade bond funds—like Intermediate-Term Investment-Grade (VFICX)—you can think of Global Credit as a sibling fund that got a passport.
